Community Update: Moving Forward Together

As many of you are aware, the bond referendum presented to voters in November did not pass. While the School Board and administration respect and acknowledge this decision, the challenges posed by our aging PreK–7 building remain. It is clear that we need to refine our approach to better align with the needs and priorities of our community.

To ensure that we take the best path forward, we are once again seeking input through a community-wide survey. Your feedback is essential in shaping our next steps, and we greatly appreciate your time and participation.

Understanding the Costs

We understand that there may be some confusion regarding the cost differences between the current proposal and the November referendum. Here’s a breakdown:

  • The November 2024 referendum ($66.845 million) included:

    • A new PK-6 school and multi-purpose space (gymnastics center) – $54.87 million

    • High school HVAC replacement, a secure entrance, and space remodeling for 7th grade – $10.14 million

    • Demolition of the existing PK-7 building – $1.83 million

  • The current proposal ($58.7 million) focuses solely on building a new PK-6 school without the additional multi-purpose space, without demolition costs, and without HS improvements but with adjustments for construction inflation.

  • Length of the bond in November was 25 years, the survey tax table shows impact for a 20 year bond

We hope this clarifies the cost differences, and we encourage you to share your thoughts through the survey.
